Common Injuries that Occur at Boca Raton Workplaces
Almost any injury can occur in the workplace, from slip and falls to burns or stress injuries. There are more dangerous workplaces like construction sites and oilfields where injuries are more common, but even “safer” jobs like office jobs, restaurant jobs, and more can cause injuries.
The most common workplace injuries include:
- Trips, slips, and falls
- Motor vehicle accidents
- Fires and explosions
- Chemical burns or other damages
- Stress or overexertion injuries
- Repetition injuries
- Bring struck or crushed by machinery
While something like a stress injury may seem like it’s not a big deal, it can cause a laundry list of damages. For example, a stress injury could cause long term disability or chronic pain. The pain and suffering from these injuries can also be high, especially as there isn’t often a cure for chronic pain.
Other injuries like burns, brain injuries, or spinal cord injuries are also known for being expensive. In some cases they require multiple surgeries, long term hospital stays, and more. All types of injuries often result in a loss of wages or loss of earning capacity. In some cases, victims of workplace injuries may not be able to return to their field ever again.

The professions with the most workplace injuries probably won’t shock you. The most dangerous professions include:
- Logging
- Oil, gas, and mining
- Roofers

However, there are some dangerous professions that you may not have thought of before. Those include:

And while there are many professions not listed as the “most common”, that doesn’t mean they’re completely safe. Because, unfortunately, an injury can occur at any time for so many different reasons.
Who Can File a Boca Raton Workers’ Compensation Claim?
After you report an injury at work, you should be contacted within a few days by your workers’ compensation insurance carrier. They’ll often send a letter in the mail or contact you via email. You have 30 days to report your injury after it occurs. It’s important to make sure that you report your injury within this time frame to ensure your claim isn’t thrown out.
Companies should be participating in a state insurance company program if any of the following are true:
- The employer is an agency of state or local government
- The business has four or more full or part-time employees
- If the employer is in the construction industry, the employer has one or more employees
- If the employer is in the farming industry, the employer has more than five employees or more than twelve seasonal employees
As long as your employer meets these criteria and your injury occurred less than 30 days ago, you are eligible to file a workers’ compensation claim.
